The Creation Week

Genesis 1–2
Timeline: c. 4004 BC

God creates the heavens, the earth, and all living things in six days, culminating in human creation and resting on the seventh day.

Adam

Created: c. 4004 BC
Lifespan: c. 4004–3074 BC (Lived 930 years)

The first man, placed in the Garden of Eden. Lived to see nine generations of descendants before dying at age 930.

The Fall of Man & Expulsion

Genesis 3
Period: c. 4000 BC

Disobedience in Eden leads to sin and mortality. Adam and Eve are exiled from the Garden.

Birth of Cain and Abel

Genesis 4:1–2
Period: c. 4000–3950 BC

First children born to Adam and Eve. Cain works the soil, while Abel becomes a shepherd.

The Murder of Abel

Genesis 4:3–16
Period: c. 3880 BC

Cain murders Abel out of jealousy. Cain receives the Mark of Cain and is banished to Nod.

Seth

Born: c. 3874 BC
Lifespan: c. 3874–2962 BC (Lived 912 years)

Given in place of Abel. Through Seth’s godly line, Noah and humanity survived the Flood.

Enosh

Born: c. 3769 BC
Lifespan: c. 3769–2864 BC (Lived 905 years)

Son of Seth. During his era, people first began to collectively call upon the name of the LORD.

Kenan

Born: c. 3679 BC
Lifespan: c. 3679–2769 BC (Lived 910 years)

Son of Enosh; continued the central ancestral line during rapid population growth.

Mahalalel

Born: c. 3609 BC
Lifespan: c. 3609–2714 BC (Lived 895 years)

Son of Kenan; served as a patriarchal leader across nine centuries.

Jared

Born: c. 3544 BC
Lifespan: c. 3544–2582 BC (Lived 962 years)

Son of Mahalalel; second-longest living patriarch in the biblical record.

Lamech (Descendant of Cain)

Genesis 4:19–24
Period: c. 3400–3300 BC

7th generation from Adam through Cain. Introduced polygamy and composed the “Song of the Sword.”

Enoch

Born: c. 3382 BC
Earthly Ministry: c. 3382–3017 BC (365 years)

Walked faithfully with God for 300 years and was taken directly to heaven without physical death.

Methuselah

Born: c. 3317 BC
Lifespan: c. 3317–2348 BC (Lived 969 years)

Son of Enoch; the longest-living person recorded in scripture. Died in the year of the Flood.

Lamech (Father of Noah)

Born: c. 3130 BC
Lifespan: c. 3130–2353 BC (Lived 777 years)

Son of Methuselah. Prophesied that Noah would bring comfort from the laborious cursed ground.

Death of Adam

Genesis 5:5
Year: c. 3074 BC

Adam dies at age 930, having seen eight generations of descendants.

Noah

Born: c. 2948 BC
Lifespan: c. 2948–1998 BC (Lived 950 years)

Righteous man commanded to build the Ark to save creation and human ancestry.

The Ark Command & Building

Genesis 6
Period: c. 2448–2348 BC

Noah builds the Ark over decades while preaching righteousness in a corrupt world.

The Great Deluge (Flood)

Genesis 7–8
Timeline: c. 2348 BC

The earth is submerged for 150 days, ending the Antediluvian Era and re-establishing society.
