Purpose of God
When God created the world and He did so for a specific purpose. This purpose is outlined in a number of places. Some examples include:
For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of Yahweh’s glory, as the waters cover the sea.
(Hab 2:14)
As I live, and as all the earth shall be filled with Yahweh’s glory;
(Num 14:21)
God’s glory is most succicntly outlined in Exodus 34 when Moses asked God to show him His glory:
Yahweh passed by before him, and proclaimed, “Yahweh! Yahweh, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth, keeping loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and disobedience and sin; and who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the children’s children, on the third and on the fourth generation.”
(Exo 34:6-7)
It is significant that instead of showing Moses great signs and miracles, God instead revealed to Moses His character – his personality. Later God reveals to His prophet Jeremiah that God’s plan is to:
“I will put my law in their inward parts, and I will write it in their heart. I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
(Jer 31:33)
We can deduce from this and other supporting verses that God’s plan is to fill the earth with people who share the same qualities as His own.
