Overview:

Lamech is of the line of Seth and is recorded in Genesis 5. He is a different person from his contemporary namesake Lamech in Cain‘s lineage who was a notably wicked man.

Born when his father Methuselah was 182 years old, Lamech lived 777 years—dying just five years before the Great Flood—making him one of the few patriarchs who died prior to the deluge without reaching the extreme 800+ or 900+ year lifespans of his immediate ancestors. He forms a critical prophetic bridge in the righteous lineage leading directly to the preservation of humanity and the line of Christ in Luke 3.
